National Defense

To improve credibility of the defense budget, I suggest you, as President, select at least three independent efficiency analysis companies to do a detailed study of Pentagon procedures and expenditures.

Results would be made public, as well as a program for eliminating demonstrated waste, since there is too much doubt among Americans about spending and management inefficiency of our armed forces.

This simple act would, I believe, lead to creative dialogue and help unite most of Congress and America behind your strong defense policy. It also could make funds now being wasted available for more important defense strategies.

Additional Comments

Efficiency could be improved by surveying service people for comments on their areas of concern and insight.

Also, government agencies could benefit from the same process.

The ideas of military and government personnel are needed to correct inefficiencies they see daily where they work.
